July 15 - Great Harbour Cay

We had one full day at GHC.  In the morning we headed to the marina office.  The manager was nice enough to do a cash advance on our credit card, so we were good to go!

We ended up with Kenny's son, Kelvin as our guide.  We were glad to have him as we would have never headed as far south as he did.  We were cruising in less than 4 feet of water the majority of the time.    The sandy bottom water was beautiful.

We headed south to Devils cay and dove both sides of the cay.  There was a lot of varied structure and we had a great time and ended up with 3 nice muttons, a couple hog snapper, and few groupers.  It was a great start to our last epic day.

After some speraring, we headed to Flo's Conch Bar on Little Harbour Cay.  Our guide forgot to call ahead to get some conch, so we enjoyed the view, some drinks, and some conversation with the locals.  Kelvin managed to whip us around the rocks to Litle Harbour at high speed so we also got a bit of a roller coaster ride on the way in.  Most of the time we were lestt than 50 feet from shore.  After we arrived, the locals joked that he was coming in hot! ha!

After waiting for the storms at the Flo's we decided to head to the Blue Hole.  We arrived at the beach with a couple sharks swimming around (a nurse and a lemon).  Kelvin kept an eye out while we walked to the beach.

The blue hole was huge.  We really enjoyed swimming and jumping into it.  The camera died so we will have to have most of the memories in our minds until next time.   Accoding to Kelvin, there used to be some large groupers in the Blue hole, but someone managed to catch them all.

We decided to head to the party at the marina for dinner.  There was tons of food available and we didn't feel like cooking, so we kept the fish on ice to clean at home, and headed to the party.  We found Bahamian Crab Stew (it might have been land crab as the previous day we heard a story how to prepare them that exactly matches our friend's mom's details on how to prepare them), some fish, Conch fritters that were 5 for $1 (wow!) and some beverages.  It was a perfect ending to our trip, and the sunset was beautiful.  Unfortunately we were all too tired to finish Fast and the Furious, so we promised to do it when we got home.

And I almost forgot.. John got his first Chip Strip!
